About Dr. Whilby

Dr. Patrick Whilby is the founder, owner, and lead dentist at Dr. Big Smilez. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Howard University Dental School in 2015, where he was a consistent Dean’s List member and received the Periodontic Excellence Award. After dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at Christiana Care in Wilmington, Delaware, gaining advanced hands-on training in implant restorations, molar endodontics, fixed prosthodontics, and CBCT technology.

Before opening Dr. Big Smilez in 2019, Dr. Whilby served as a Lead Doctor at Pacific Dental Services, where he became highly proficient in CEREC technology while managing high patient volumes. Today, he leads a dedicated team of over 20 professionals and is committed to delivering patient-centered care that goes beyond the basics.

Outside the Office

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Whilby enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with his family. He’s also a passionate community advocate, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club, the “Give Kids A Smile Day” initiative, and local fire stations, police stations, and high schools throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
